Cragnarok

What's new

What changed from version to version.

1.0.39 The forge in co-op

  • In the co-op forge nobody keeps falling or gets attacked any more.

1.0.38 The Norns' Game

  • New mode: a board game around Yggdrasil with nine minigames, for 2 to 8 players.
  • The party playlist now works online for everyone in the lobby.
  • Looking down in first person shows only your legs now.
  • The launcher got a marble frame.

1.0.36 Direct connections, new enemies

  • Online games mostly run directly between players; the server only steps in when it has to.
  • Six new enemy types, elite enemies and a new chapter every 25 waves.
  • A new mode picker with previews, and the modes have their usual names.
  • Portals now appear at random on the map.
  • Bosses climb instead of popping up.

1.0.35 Big maps and a launcher

  • Three new big maps: Kattegat, Niflheim and Utgard. Normal maps use half the memory.
  • New installer with a launcher that keeps the game up to date.
  • Creative mode with your own worlds, presets and 32 new blocks.
  • The lightning dash charges only while standing, and reaches 30 to 45 metres.
  • Glory kills throw the enemy up and finish it in the air.
  • Forge shortcuts, and weapons get stashed instead of destroyed.
  • F1 shows the controls with key icons.

1.0.34 Bosses, running, stone

  • Bosses no longer get stuck in the ground, and the dragon really flies.
  • New run cycle without the hop, legs no longer cross.
  • Destruction sounds like its material: stone cracks, wood splinters.

1.0.33 Charged punch and lightning dash

  • Hold F to charge the punch; small enemies fly into space.
  • Zen rest in multiplayer: press Esc and sit in peace.
  • Bots play the mode objectives, and the lobby no longer stutters.

1.0.32 Modes, heroes, training ground

  • Eight new team modes for PvP, among them capture the flag, gun game and Bifröst Break, where you knock the floor out from under the other team. After each round the mead hall votes on the next mode.
  • Three new heroes: Loki, Skadi and Freyja, each with an ability on Q.
  • A training ground with 15 stations walks you through movement, weapons and ultimates.
  • New main menu, a creative mode for building, and the Hall of Deeds with 40 achievements.
  • PvP bots in four levels, quick play and invite codes.

1.0.31 Swimming, fixed weapon keys

  • Swimming works again. Full gravity used to pull you down in water; now you surface in under a second.
  • Every weapon sits on the same key every time, like in Doom.
  • Fenrir's Fetter is no longer a weapon; you get the rune gold back.

1.0.30 Under the hood

  • The game code now ships obfuscated. Nothing changes for you; saves and settings stay as they are.

1.0.29 Depth, music, feet on the ground

  • Castles, walls and cliffs got plinths, cornices and buttresses, and they cast clean bands of shadow.
  • New music: a main theme you can hum along to, and strings, war drums and a male choir in fights.
  • The campaign now works in co-op, and everyone keeps the progress in their own save.
  • Kills no longer freeze the game for a moment, and feet stop sliding when you run.

1.0.28 Wave campaign, new look

  • Every mission is now an arena with 20 waves, mini-bosses at 5, 10 and 15 and a boss at the end.
  • Something happens every 20 to 35 seconds: fire rain, a rune altar to hold, a gold dwarf running off with his loot.
  • Cel shading with clear light steps and plain textures; blocks stay square.
  • Enemies, bosses and weapons were rebuilt, and the menus are ivory and gold now.

1.0.27 Enemies climb out of holes

  • Enemies stuck in a pit jump over the edge after two tries, or pull themselves up.

1.0.26 Swimming

  • Underwater you float up and can jump onto the shore. During the flood you get 10 seconds of air instead of 4.

1.0.25 Campaign of the Nine Worlds

  • PLAY opens a map of the Nine Worlds. Each world has three levels, a finale and an arena with its boss.
  • Wrath tiers for replays, with better rewards.
  • The armoury unlocks weapons for good and upgrades them up to tier V.

1.0.24 New weapons, a world that moves

  • Eight new weapons, among them a throwable Mjölnir and the Ragnarök axe, whose shockwave tears a trench into the ground.
  • Towers topple in pieces, wood burns and spreads to the next house, lava runs into craters.
  • Ragnarök events during a match: a flood, Fenrir running through the arena, Jörmungandr coming up.
  • Siege as a PvP mode, and a map editor to share your own maps.

1.0.23 Ultimates and Asgard

  • Every ultimate gets a short camera moment, skippable with space.
  • New world Asgard: rock above the clouds, a golden hall, the Bifröst across the sky.
  • God's Eye, the landing and Odin's Grip sound a lot heavier.

1.0.22 Four bosses, finishers

  • A boss every five waves: Jötunn, Fenrir, Surtr or Nidhöggr, each with its own attacks.
  • At 15 % health the boss kneels and F starts the finisher, together in co-op.
  • Kills sound meatier and headshots flash gold.

1.0.21 New enemies, smarter AI, wall running

  • New enemies with roles: a builder puts up ramps to reach you, a seeress heals the others, and shield bearers have to be flanked.
  • Enemies surround you, take cover and fall back when hurt.
  • Wall running, wall jumps and ledge pull-ups up to 1.85 m.
  • All enemies have about a third less health.

1.0.20 Forge, hero levels, Svartalfheim

  • After each wave the forge opens with four cards: 30 items, weapon tiers up to IV, and a gift of the gods after each boss.
  • Brokk, Hilda, Ulf and Sigrun level up to 30 and have talents to choose from.
  • New world Svartalfheim: a dwarven cave with lava gorges and mine carts on rails.
  • Houses are furnished now, with furniture, tapestries and hearth fires.

1.0.19 Ranked, killcam, controls

  • Ranked lobbies with Glicko-2 ratings and ranks from Thrall to Valhalla.
  • A killcam after you die, and the best play of the match at the end.
  • Rebindable keys, gamepad support and accessibility options.
  • If you camp, Hel gets impatient.

1.0.18 Dodge roll, death card

  • Dodge roll on Alt, with 0.25 seconds of invulnerability at the start.
  • After you die, a card shows who got you, with which weapon and from how far.

1.0.17 Planai

  • New map Planai: a ski mountain with three slopes, jumps and a Viking village. Crouch on snow to ski.
  • Reloading with too little ammo now shows clearly that it won't fill up.

1.0.16 Paste

  • Ctrl+V works in every text field and in chat, and name and server are remembered.

1.0.15 Race track and horses

  • A new map with a 300 m race track, stands and starting gates.
  • Horses you can ride, G to get on and off.

1.0.14 Teammates through walls

  • In co-op you see teammates as outlines through walls; in PvP only enemies that were just marked.

1.0.13 Landing, kills, pause

  • On first start your hero comes down from space as a fireball and leaves a crater.
  • Kills get a solid confirm sound and a clean marker.
  • Pause now really stops everything in single player.

1.0.12 Jötunn, shoulder camera

  • Boss Jötunn: a stone giant every five waves, with arms and legs you can break off one by one.
  • Odin's Grip now tears out whole rocks and islands and throws them.
  • Over-the-shoulder camera on F5, headshots do 1.5x damage, graphics presets from low to ultra.

1.0.11 Four heroes

  • Brokk, Hilda, Ulf and Sigrun, each with an ultimate and a cape.
  • Five weapon slots, new: Odin's Grip, Gjallarhorn and Stone Maw.
  • Enemies with a Norse look and IK animation.

1.0.10 Online play

  • Lobby server: play online without port forwarding, with a lobby browser, chat and levels.
  • 20 chat commands like /moon or /slowmo; the host decides who may use them.
  • German and English, more colourful worlds and new sounds.

1.0.9 Game feel

  • The first enemies arrive after two seconds, and many more at once from the start.
  • Explosions throw up to 400 chunks, and trees and pillars fall over.
  • PvP rounds end on time or kill limit, followed by a winner screen.

1.0.8 New icon

  • New icon: a Viking shield with Mjölnir.
